About the book

I wanted to give a correct accounting of a professional pet care person’s life. Many think that I am rich and have lots of fun. The fun part is true; however, there is a huge responsibility for the pet care professional to never be ill, their vehicle can never break down, because they are responsible for the health, safety, and security of other families’ fur children. If one wanted to become a professional pet care person this book will give lots of information on what to do and what not to do with the home, the animals, and the interview process with the pet owners/caregivers. I also wanted to impart the fact that a professional pet care provider is on call 24/7 every day of the year. I have worked 365 days per year for over 28 years. That has been excellent for me as I love, honor, and adore every fur child. However, I have seen many young women start a business and then quit in a short time frame because of the time needed to care for their own families. People will book your services months or weeks in advance or they might call at 10 PM and ask you to start visiting their home the next morning because of a family emergency. You will work nearly nonstop from October through January. The rest of the year your assignments may be a few days, one week, two weeks, or even 30 days at a time. You are indeed on call for everyone’s life. As far as rich, car repairs, gasoline, tires, etc. all require dollars. You usually are working from early morning into the late evening and other times even doing overnight pet sitting in people’s homes. I tell many funny stories in the book to illustrate that in a split second you will have to assess the situation and save the day. Your reflexes have to be lightning fast because the animals react as fast as lighting to all kinds of situations and other animals. You also have to realize that if you “screw up” you might as well slit your own throat. These fur children are the center of the owner’s existence and their loss would be totally devastating to the owner. I believe that the most important chapter in my book deals with animal reincarnation. Losing an animal is one of the most traumatic events in a person’s life short of losing a child. That chapter explains that our animals never leave us. They sometimes reincarnate and come back. Otherwise, they are angels watching over us. They are with us 24/7. When I first started my business I named it “Never Say Goodbye” because my logical mind determined the following. Your fur children stay in their own home with the other fur babies they are always with. Nothing changes in their life other than I am not you. Years later when several of my children reincarnated and returned to me I realized that we truly never have to say goodbye. It is beyond my comprehension to imagine the number of hearts worldwide that will be healed when that truth reaches every person who has lost a fur child.
