About the author

Dorrine Simmering is the author of three books and working on her fourth. She draws her inspiration from the question, “What if” Her first two books are Heatherbound and Hidden Planet. Born in Hollywood, Calif, after college she married a naval Officer and had three children. Moving every two years with a family was quite a challenge, But Dorrine enjoyed it, as did her children. Her favorite duty stations were England, Japan and Alaska, her favorite pastime is playing bridge.

About the book

This book is a historical romance about several generations of a family in the 1800s. Tradition and laws hinder the women of each generation, but women find a way to fulfill their dreams. The youngest, Abigail defies her father and becomes a doctor. She escapes his plans for her future by answering an ad for a mail order bride and travels to Highland, Kansas.
